Age variation

Sometime ago I went to the cinema with my friends. We wanted to see a movie and had to present "Student ID"  to get discounted tickets. One of my friends didn't have his ID with him, and the cashier refused to sell the ticket to him at the discounted price.  Here's my question: What is the criteria behind the presentation of a student ID card when buying a movie ticket? Do we enjoy the movie differently by age? What other means will you propose movies tickets are discounted?

  1. I believe its just a way for the cinema house to make a bit more money. Because the identity is not retained or witheld in any way for verification, it is only viewed or scanned by the eye returned. So the authentisity or genuity does not count. If a movie is R 18 and above I dnt c y a 35 year old male shld pay more than a 25 year old male.
